New Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising Gameplay Video

March 31, 2009

All I have to say is that if this is actual gameplay this game is going to be freaking sick! The game looks incredible, the huge view distance, the super realistic mountains, and the overall realistic feel. Before I was iffy on this game, but now I can absolutely not wait. Hopefully this will be a very successful open world military simulator that will hold true to this video.

Western Digital Enters SSD Market

March 31, 2009

Western Digital recently spent $65 million to acquire SliconSystems, a supplier solid state dirves. Western Digital is one of the hard drive disk giants that are especially known for their insanely fast Raptor drives, and their consumer grade Caviar drives. Looks like Western Digital is looking to the future and will give SSD makers a run for their money. Hopefully we will see Seagate enter the solid sate drive race so some real competition will happen, which will in turn lower prices and make better products.

Playstation 2 Price Drop to $99.99?

March 30, 2009

sony-playstation-2

The nine year old Playstation 2 looks likes going to grow even longer legs. This is not official but some retailers are hinting at the price drop, and the rumor has greatly increased in the last day or two of this price drop. If all of this is true the best selling console ever may last even longer. With a friendly hundred dollar price tag it’s certainly more appealing for a video game get-a-way from these harsh times.

March 27, 2009

wallpaper_call_of_duty_02_1280

ESRB is now listing that the original Call of Duty is on Xbox Live Market place and Playstation Network. It is so nice to see that people will finally get to play the game that launched the Call of Duty Franchise. I’ve been playing Call of Duty ever since its release, and in my opinion the first is by far the greatest, in terms of the single player. The graphics may be lacking but you quickly get over that once you realize how much of a masterpiece this game is. So save MS points or your stock up your Playstation Wallet so you can experience one of the all time greats.

The Electric Car is Back! The Tesla Model S Electric Vehicle

March 27, 2009

Tesla Motors will be releasing their new electric car, Tesla Model S, in late 2011. The sticker price will be $57,400, but with the federal tax credit of $7,500 the price becomes $49,900. Cheaper yet still very expensive for the average citizen, but the car defiantly pays for itself in the long run. Yes this car is expensive, but you’re not just buying a electric, you’re buying a electric car the can hold its own. The Model S can go 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and the sport model can go 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Now that is some speed for a electric car. Well you may be thinking that if this car has that much power then it must not have a great range. Yet the 8,000 cell removable battery can go about 300 miles (484km) on a full charge. The battery charges fully in four to five hours when plugged into a 220V outlet. There is also a “Quick Charge” mode that allows the battery to have a adequate range in 45 minutes. Tesla is also considering a long range battery pack, but nothing is official. The battery that comes with the car is expected to last seven to ten years, and replacements are covered by the three to four year warranty. However, if the warranty has expired or has been voided, replacement batteries are expected to be under $5,000.

If you’re thinking that this car seems great and all but, you need four or all-wheel drive. You’re in luck! Tesla Motors is also putting out a all-wheel version of the Model S. Well this has been a brief overview of the Tesla Model S Electric Vehicle. Sadly the car is expensive and probably won’t revolutionize the auto industry. I hope to see more Electric cars in future, they will help us save the Earth and lower our dependence on foreign oil. Go Tesla Motors!

A New Gaming Console: OnLive

March 25, 2009

onlive_product_shot_on_bkgd

OnLive has been in development for seven years by Rearden Labs. The new console will deliver on demand games via the Internet. Your games are run on servers that are spread across the country. When you play a game your controller actions are sent to the server then, the server streams that video back to your console. The developers are saying that there is very minimal lag, but depending on your Internet speed your resolution will be different. The minimum requirement is 1.5Mbit connection for standard definition, and 5Mbit for 720p. The console looks to be the size of a large iPod, that you can hook up to your TV, PC, or Mac.

One of the largest benefits to this new game console is the low entry cost, especially compared to current consoles and a high-end PC. If you thought consoles now were super easy to use and convenient, this is way more. Buy it, Plug it in, buy games over the OnLive service, then play. No software updates, no patches to download, everything is done on the OnLive servers. To me this seams to be the definition of steam-lined gaming (you don’t even have to get up off your couch to change the game). This new micro-console is bringing a whole new look on how we game, and hopefully it works and works well.
