Lauching New Site for Man.CHUP.EUG.

We have launched a new site that will replace this one. Here is the URL http://www.tecgoat.com/. The site is very basic as of now, but that will change very soon. The site will essentially be the same with hopefully more content. So stop by see whats new, and help support the Tech Goat. Also the Podcast is going to be recorded with in the next week, so keep an eye out for that.

Why Blu-Ray Has Not Been Fully Successful

We all know Blu-Ray is being slowly accepted and may eventually take over the DVD market. However, there are many reasons Blu-Ray has not been fully successful. One is the extremely high prices for the player and discs themselves compared to DVD. Two is that not everyone has a superb fancy 1080p television. Three everyone has a DVD collection and the player for them. And Now for the most important reason, Star Wars! Those first three reasons are minuscule compared to this gigantic g problem of no Star Wars on Blu-Ray. In my opinion Blu-Ray will never succed if it doesn’t adopt the Epic Trilogy we all know as Star Wars. I mean if Legos can have Star Wars why can’t Blu-Ray. Yeah it may cost a lot and take a huge chunk of time to make the Death Star HD, but still the true epic should be in 1080p and in 5.1 surround sound. So George Lucas you and Sony need to make a play date and make this thing happen, please!

Skype is on the iPhone!

It is now official that a version of Skype will be available for the iPhone this Tuesday. Not only will the iPhone be receiving Skype, but later this year in May Skype will be releasing a version for the BlackBerry. After the BlackBerry and iPhone receive their versions, Skype will have support for Nokia, Android, WinMo also. For those of you with iTouches Skype will also be available on Tuesday as well. Just make sure you have a newer iTouch with a microphone built in, or if you have a older one you will need a adapter. So finally our prayers have been answered, Skype is now on the iPhone!

The Electric Car is Back! The Tesla Model S Electric Vehicle

Tesla Motors will be releasing their new electric car, Tesla Model S, in late 2011. The sticker price will be $57,400, but with the federal tax credit of $7,500 the price becomes $49,900. Cheaper yet still very expensive for the average citizen, but the car defiantly pays for itself in the long run. Yes this car is expensive, but you’re not just buying a electric, you’re buying a electric car the can hold its own. The Model S can go 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and the sport model can go 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Now that is some speed for a electric car. Well you may be thinking that if this car has that much power then it must not have a great range. Yet the 8,000 cell removable battery can go about 300 miles (484km) on a full charge. The battery charges fully in four to five hours when plugged into a 220V outlet. There is also a “Quick Charge” mode that allows the battery to have a adequate range in 45 minutes. Tesla is also considering a long range battery pack, but nothing is official. The battery that comes with the car is expected to last seven to ten years, and replacements are covered by the three to four year warranty. However, if the warranty has expired or has been voided, replacement batteries are expected to be under $5,000.

If you’re thinking that this car seems great and all but, you need four or all-wheel drive. You’re in luck! Tesla Motors is also putting out a all-wheel version of the Model S. Well this has been a brief overview of the Tesla Model S Electric Vehicle. Sadly the car is expensive and probably won’t revolutionize the auto industry. I hope to see more Electric cars in future, they will help us save the Earth and lower our dependence on foreign oil. Go Tesla Motors!

Podcast #1 in the Works

Hey I’m just making a post here informing the world that our first episode of the Man.CHUP.EUG. podcast is in the works, and should be online in the next week. We set up our stuff and our ready to, we just have to figure out what we are going to talk about. We are planning the episodes to be about a half hour in length, but that is not entirely official yet. I will apologize now for the crappy audio quality for EUG and CHUPA. I’m recording them through speakers so it’s not very good. However, we are working on a new way of recording so in future episodes the audio quality will be better.  If you guys have any ideas or suggestions please tell us them, because we need them. Thank you, and be ready for episode one.

Colbert Report Going to the Middle East

 

On one of The Colbert Reports this week Stephen announced that he was going to the Middle East in the future. Stephen did not say exactly when or where he is going  because of security issues. The reason he is going down is to entertain U.S. troops, go Stephen Colbert!

Can I Haz Recon?……..

      The famous mythic armor of Bungie employees and a select few others will be available soon for the rest of us to enjoy……..or will it? Here’s the thing there are 3 lists of people according to a Bungie.net post. People who HAVE recon, people who DON’T have recon, and the most important one people who WILL NEVER GET RECON.

     Now that that is out of the way let me explain. By completing all of the vidmaster achievements and collecting all of the hidden skulls on the new MYTHIC maps for Halo3 and the new set of vidmaster achievements for ODST you will get RECON armor. UNLESS you are on list 3. If you are a cheater, or a spammer, or you have been banned by Bungie, if you have broken there code of conduct…….YOU WILL NOT GET RECON. The people who have gotten RECON are people who have made innovative videos, pictures, maps or have shown them a good enough reason to have it.

     So for all the gamers who don’t get on Bungie.net and try to lie or repeatedly bug them about it you can still work to get it. As long as you don’t cheat…..remember….BUNGIE IS WATCHING.

Used Games

I recently bought Battlefield Bad Company for the Xbox 360 used from GameStop. I got it for $26.99 which is a great deal considering that it’s $40 new, and when it came out in June 2008 it cost $60. I love buying used games because one they are cheaper, and two it’s the same product that is new, just with some small scratches on the packaging. However there are two sides to used games buying them and selling them. When I bought Battlefield BC used it reminded me of my purchase of Left 4 Dead. Since Left 4 Dead came out in the prime time of games I had very little dough, so I decided to sacrifice some of my old games for it. I picked out 15 games to trade in and headed down to my local GameStop. They checked all the games and added $36 to my store credit. 15 $60 dollar games and I get 36 bucks! I was so furious and looked at the receipt and at least five of the games I got less than 25 cents! The most I got was $5 from Guitar Hero 3. Keep in mind these are all 360 games that were $60 when they were released. I went in to GameStop fully confident that 15 full featured games would be able to get me one new game. I understand that they have to make a profit, but I mean I could go down to the recycle center and get more off the plastic with some of those games. Overall you do save money in the end so it’s hard to complain, I just wish they would give you at least a dollar for a full fledged game.

The Man.CHUP.EUG. Blog

Hello cyberland and welcome to the Man.CHUP.EUG. Blog. I am Mango ManAK (AK stands for Alaska), and my two other buddies are CHUPAFUPHY and THE EUG 7. CHUPA and I have known each other forever, and I met EUG two and a half years ago playing Test Drive Unlimited on Xbox Live. We are here to blog about games, movies, and whatever else we feel like blogging about. Most of the blog will probably focus on games, but we are not entirley decided on that. Also, we have been talking about creating a podcast alongside this blog, which would also most likley follow the topic of games.

Us three are primarly Xbox 360 guys, but I did recently aquire a Playstation 3 this holiday season. CHUPA also has a PS3 but EUG does not, and that is probably due to the fact that he thinks sony is for the underworld, because when he got a PS2 at launch it failed shortly after and would cost him upwords of 300 bucks to get it repaired. In addition to my PS3 and 360 I coexist with my faithful PC. So in other words us together have the majority of the gaming spectrum covered.
